With a view to create a vehicular pollution-free environment in the State, the Department of Transport has taken steps for openingof Auto Emission Testing stations throughout the Assam for periodic testing of the limit value of smoke emitted through motor vehicles engines and to issue necessary Pollution Under control Certificate. Accordingly, as many as 175 nos of Private Auto Emission Testing Stations have already been set up by unemployed youth in different places in the state.
In 2015-16, the collection of revenue on account of 'Pollution Under Control' Certificate and License Renewal fees amounted to Rs 44.01 lakhs.
